What is a Behavioural Disorder (BD)?

Any abnormality in behaviour or attitude can be termed as BD. It is manifested as the symptoms of the derangement of mind. It should not be confused with mental disorder (MD). The BD in superlative degree may take the form of MD. That means when BD becomes sever in intensity and troubles the surrounding people also then we can suspect of MD.

Cause-

1. Genetic make-up, 2. Corrupt morale,3. Bad practices,4. Immproper guidance,5. Unsuitable environment.

It is very interesting to know the approach of homoeopathy towards behavioural disorder.

Without naming a disease we can treat the patient symptomatically in Homoeopathy. For example in Allopathy the patient has to be put on various diagnostic investigations at the beginning itself in order to arrive at the name of the disease like schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder etc. Then after prescription is made accordingly.

As few days back while taking such a case the patient narrated me that he went to consult a Psychiatrist and there he was being examined by a group of around 10 to 15 doctors who went on asking him uncountable questions (many of which were very embarrassing) and then concluded that he is having ‘obsessive compulsive disorder’ which has no treatment. In management they advised that since you feel good when you are alone; hence live rest of your life alone.

Whereas in Homoeopathy we have different medicines for different symptoms. Some of them are given below.

Anger from contradiction- Aurum, Ign,lyco,sep

Anger about past events-Nat.mr,sep,staph,sulphur

Confidence lack of with anxiety of performance- lyco

Depression from a harsh words- Medo,Nat mr

Despair feeling, future about- Ars,Nat.mr

Despair feeling from disappointed love- Aur,Caust,Hyosc,Ign,Nat.mr

Discontented feelings- Brom,Ign

Impolite- Hep,lyco,merc,plat

Homeopathy treats the PQRS (peculiar, rare, striking) symptoms. Many times abnormal mental conditions are not noticed by us from the initial stage. Any so called mental disease does not erupt abruptly. It always manifests mild symptoms at the beginning which increases gradually. If we can irradiate those abnormalities at the beginning itself; then there is hardly any chance of having severe diseases.

Some of the PQRS symptoms given below.
Anxiety, must loosen clothing and open window-nux,puls,sulph.
Talking authoritatively-lyco.
Joy at the misfortune of others-Ars, anac.
Ideas abundant but uncertain of its execution-Medo
Idiocy,desire to bite- Bell,stramonium
Rapidlly answers-Carc,lyss,sep,stry.
Registered fear remains after a fright- opium
Hunting for words while speaking-Arn,can ind,ac phos.
Questions,speaks continually in-Ambr,aurm
Worries from over-careful -Ars,iod
These are some of the PQRS symptoms which often do not attract our attention as abnormalities. But in fact these are the initial manifestations of abnormal mind and of course needs cure.

Homoeopathic medicines rarely have side effect.Homoeopathy medicines do not contain any crude drug substance like metals or chemicals etc.rather contains only the dynamic healing quality of the substance. Hence fearlessly one can have homoeopathic medicines for behavioural disorder.

Another reason to justify the same is that homoeopathy medicines have ‘secondary curative action’ in stead of ‘secondary counter action’

How long it takes to treat completely?

It depends on
A. Severity of the disease
B.Sensitivity of the patient
Hence it may need some days to some years.

How to manage the BD patients?

Corporeal punishment, beating, scolding etc. do not bring any solution rather makes the condition worse. Hence these are the wrong ways which should not be followed.
Repeated consolation, soothing behaviour, affectionate dealing, sensible advice etc. facilitates the cure.
