Acne is the inflammation of the sebaceous glands present beneath the skin. They secret a substance called sebum which is responsible for maintaining moisture in the skin. When these glands are inflamed, they produce more sebum and hence oily skin is found.
Causes-
1. Genetic- If parents had acne or pimples at certain age then the children carry susceptibility to develop the same.
2. Hormonal- As the adolescent approaches there occur various hormonal change in the body. In some youngsters the body react abnormally to those hormonal changes and hence produce acne.
3. Oily food intake- More one intakes oily food more he is susceptible to develop acne.
4. Dandruff-Dandruff used to fall from scalp on arms and nape of neck. Hence these are the areas to develop pimples due to dandruff.
5. Stress- When an individual is under stress, many stress hormones are released which often produces acne, pimples like disorders.
Types-
1. Papules-Red colured eruptions slightly raised from the level of skin.
2. Pustules-Whitish tip on reddish, inflamed pimples. These spread deeper into skin than papules.
3. Nodules-Large, hard, painful nodes are found.
Symptoms-
1. Inflammation with redness
2. Itching
3. Pain
4. Pus formation in tips of pimples.
Some facts to remember-
1. Acne and pimples are not because of any external cause rather because of internal disorder. Hence for cure we should correct the internal disorder.
2. External application only suppresses the disease but do not cure.
3. Wash your face often with plain water
4. Do not squeeze the pimples, as it leaves scare marks.
5. Exercise daily until you sweat.
6. Acne due to dandruff used to be small and come on groups.
7. Acne due to hormones used to be large and painful.
8. Drink plenty of water and eat good amount of fresh fruits and vegetables.
