Psoriasis is an auto immune skin disorder in which the skin produces excess skin cells but does not shed in equal proportion. This results in pile up of skin cells and then scaling. Though the lesions appear externally on skin but it the cause of the psoriasis is internal. Hence at no point of time external application of ointment ,lotion etc. is advisable for cure.
Plaque psoriasis- It can affect any part of the body. However more prone areas are elbows, knees, scalp and chest. In this type we find well defined red patches covered with silvery, white scales.
Guttate- In this type you gat multiple, small, drop like, round or oval shape patches. Usually it is seen in adults after having a streptococcal infection.
Inverse psoriasis- These lesions are found in skin folds of thigh, arm pit, under breast etc. These are well defined red lesions and do not have scaling.
Pustular psoriasis- Here the psoriatic patches will have pus points. They burst after some times and reappear also. It can affect any one part of the body or the entire body.
Along with psoriasis if the nails start pitting or growing inward or ridges appear or any joint pain starts then it is suspected to be psoriatic arthritis.5 to 10 % of the psoriasis cases develop psoriatic arthritis.
Treatment of Psoriasis-
It needs a prolonged treatment. However in homeopathy treatment high amount of success is found. Because homeopathy fundamentally corrects the immunity imbalance. Since psoriasis is basically an auto immune disorder, hence the cure is very much achievable. During treatment the patches often goes and come back again. But this is the nature of the disease and the patient has to be explained about it.
